Information Collection and Use: Platypus Media considers the business contained in the business records we keep to be confidential. In the course of doing business, we may occasionally release our customer list of names and addresses to organizations, contractors, affiliates, employees, potential purchasers or agents for billing, mailing or franchising purposes. In other limited circumstances, such as a law suit or administrative proceeding, we may be required by law to disclose the information you submit.
Platypus Media collects information in the following ways:
Registration: If you supply Platypus Media with your e-mail or postal address, you may receive mailings with information about new products and services or upcoming events. If you do not wish to receive such mailings, notify the webmaster. At any time, you may remove your information from our database so as not to receive future communications.
Log Files: We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. We use this information to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, and to help us make our site more useful. Generally, we delete this information after one year. We may share aggregated demographic information with our partners in resource protection and restoration and education.
Financial Information and Payment: Financial information collected is handled by a secure server, and is only used to bill the user for products and services. Platypus Media uses an outside credit card processing company to bill users for financial contributions. These companies do not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.
Links: The Platypus Media site contains links to non Platypus Media sites. Although we try to link only to web site that share our respect for customer information privacy, Platypus is not responsible for their privacy practices or content. Platypus Media occasionally refers users to commercial sites where related information, services or products are available. Information supplied to these sites is at user discretion.
Security: We use secure socket layer (SSL) encryption to protect the transmission of information you submit to us when you use our secure online forms. You are on a secure page, such as our order form, when the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to unlocked, or open, when you are just ‘surfing’. All the information you provide us through these forms is stored securely offline.; If you send us an email, you should know that email is not necessarily secure against interception. So, if your communication includes sensitive information like your bank account, charge card, or social security number, and you prefer not to use one of our secure online complaint forms, contact us by mail or by telephone rather than e-mail.
